Triticale ist a hybrid of wheat and rye. The name was created by combining the latin names of wheat (triticum) and rye (secal). Although this new grain has now been existing for nearly 100 years, it wasn't used in Europe until the 1970ies.
Uses:
In the past triticale was used mainly as animal feed. In the last years, however, triticale has been introduced into ready mixes as whole-flour and crushed grain. It adds a pleasant aroma and a typical taste. It provides a high content of Thyamin and Magnesium.
